I know, I’m overdue for writing.

I was reading The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh but I didn’t finish it. That’s a new thing for me, allowing myself to stop reading and not finish the book. I used to make myself finish even if I hated it. Even if I was dreading it. The Shadow Lines was just boring.

Then I read Oxygen by Andrew Miller, which had all this acclaim. It was OK but didn’t knock my socks off. I’m still having a literary hangover from The History of Love.

Oxygen was very sad. I need something silly and light now. I also think I might be over the Indian obsession. We’ll see.

I finished the History of Love. It was spectacular and wonderful. One of the best books that I have read this year. I want Karen to read it. I feel let down. I don’t know what to read next...

I’m beginning to get back to my normal routine after a flurry of activity. I finished The Tree Bride which I may talk about later and am now reading The History of Love by Allison Krauss and recommended by Michele. I think SJ should read it next. It is sooo extraordinary. This is the type of novel that makes me passionate for reading fiction. It’s complicated, poignant, witty and romantic. I wish that I could write like this.

More soon as it is late.
